Radha and Krishna are usually depicted as a pair of youthful lovers stealing away into the woods of Vrindavan. However, in the painting that you see on this page, they have a boat to themselves in which to make the most of each other’s company. A multitude of pale pink lotuses are blooming in the calm blue waters; pristine marble palaces and green, rugged hills are in the background. It is a lively, festive night. The sun has barely set in the skies, as could be gleaned from the tints of washed-out gold betwixt the hills in the distance. A plethora of boats are floating about in the water body,

Murals distinguish the folk art of Kerala. A fine tradition to be found in the temples and palaces dotting the Malabar Coast, the earliest examples are to be found in Tirunandikkara and Tiruvanchikulam, dated from the ninth to the twelfth centuries. The one you see on this page is a contemporary specimen of this ancient means of art, and conforms to the post-fifteenth century style of Kerala murals. Done on canvas for portability (murals are characterised by the permanence of the chosen medium), it depicts an ethereal image of the Lord Krishna.

A Banarasi handloom is one of the age-old forms of embroidery, originated from Banaras and still finds its suited position in the contemporary fashion trend. The soft and smooth texture of this bright Indian wear allows it to have an easy and settled flow to the pleats when draped, hence ascending the personality of the women wearing it. A good quality banarasi silk is identified by the use of fine gold and silver threads for weaving glossy brocades or zari and opulent embroidery. This Banarasi silk is apt to wear for decorating the bridal trousseau wardrobe because of its elegant and rich look

While shawls of this variety are known for their gravity and their strictly traditional look, this is one pashmina shawl that has a more contemporary look. In terms of color and motif, it features a bunch of paisleys embroidered within Equi-sized quadrilaterals across the field of the shawl in teal, peach, red, and ochre. The foundation is a solid pristine color that serves to bring out the colors in the foreground in all their vividness and contrast. Such a shawl is best layered over a casual Western ensemble to add some of that traditional quirk to your look.

Indian contemporary art mainly focuses on portraits. In this oil painting, the artist captures a middle-aged woman decorating herself. The woman is illustrated with a porcelain complexion, with her lovely countenance being etched with small almond eyes, a wide Nubian nose, and watermelon pink lips that complement her deep philtrum and her harmonizing nail paint. Her crimson red bindiya contrasts her dark and finely groomed sharp eyebrows. Her cocoa-colored hair parts on the left side as the hem of her sari rests on her head.

This painting, "The Heroine in Her Wind Palace - Watercolor Painting" a masterpiece in Indian miniature art form, representing a royal lady, obviously a princess, seen across the gavaksha, or the oriel balcony of her wind-palace, presents a unique synthesis of various painting styles of medieval, as well as contemporary India. The features of the figure, a slightly angular face, sharp nose, large eyes, broad forehead, tall neck, exceptionally long fingers, and slim tall figure, a great beauty by any parameter, are characteristic elements of the Kishangarh art style of Rajasthan. The damsel portrayed

Black is the most evergreen color in the entire color palette, that goes well in all kinds of attires and functions; it has the inbuilt characteristic of highlighting a person’s inner beauty and features gracefully. When we look at the delicacy on this page, we automatically connect this garment as appropriate to be worn by the groom’s brother or the bride’s brother, for any heavy function, like a wedding or engagement. Having a fine art silk material, this sherwani is stitched in an appropriate length i.e. slightly below the knee length with a front half slit; borders with thin designer piping

There are nine names of Devi Durga –ShailPutri, Brahmacharini, etc; etc and hence known as Nava-Durga. During Navaratri festivals, all the Devis are worshipped in their particular avatars and celebrated all over the world with fanfare. Devi accepts all the names and proves itself in all forms. When you sit in meditation and deep inside, you will realize the different shakties and their mantras. Dashbhujadharini Maa Durga is not only the knowledge & wisdom but also Bhranti (disbelief).

Devi Mahakali, the consort of ‘Mahakala’ (Great Time), a form of Lord Shiva, is the Goddess of time, life, death, creation, as well as liberation. The most powerful Goddess Mahakali is one of the three manifestations of Devi Durga that represent the three Gunas of material nature (sattva, rajas, and tamas). Being the consort of Lord Shiva, who is the predominating deity of the mode of ignorance, Mahakali represents Tamas and is the boundless energy behind the act of destruction of the material world. She is considered as ‘Prakriti’, the driving force or energy, while ‘Purusha’ is the Absolute Reality,

This brilliant painting, oil on canvas, as large as four by six feet, rendered in modern art style but with a mythical theme, represents the ten-armed Devi – Goddess, killing the buffalo demon Mahisha, better known as Mahishasura. The goddess is attended on her right by goddess Lakshmi carrying a lotus in her right hand, and a pot of gems, in her left, and on her left, by goddess Saraswati carrying in her right hand a lotus bud, and in her left, her usual ‘vina’ – stringed musical instrument. Though while the gold complexioned Lakshmi is attired in pinkish mauve ‘sari’ and blue complexioned Saraswati,
