Instant Merchant Accounts
There are many pitfalls when applying for an instant merchant account. Many merchant service providers offer instant merchant accounts that are place holders for the real merchant account with no real approval.
Instant Merchant Accounts:
There are some sites promoting Instant merchant accounts that you need to know about. There is no such thing as a real approved instant merchant account that is 100% live in which you will receive your funds two days after you process the first transaction.
Example:

WHY?
The bottom line on instant merchant accounts is to determine if they are offering an instant merchant account ID or the merchant account approval. The merchant account ID is just a number and many companies have thousands of merchant account IDs they can load to their system and issue to merchants. The idea is to issue the ID so the merchant thinks they are approved while they do the underwriting.
Here's how the rules work. The credit card companies require that the merchants business, web site, products and services meet certain requirements and any merchant account provider is required to verify this. If it's an internet merchant they are required to print a copy of the web site and verify the products before they actually approve the account. Here's why... Say a merchant puts on their application they sell videos and DVDs. Now when you look at the site you see they sell adult videos and memberships. This would put this merchant under a high risk classification and requires a special code. Another one that's seen ofter is the personal consulant. A look at the site may show they are a consultant specializing in phone sex. This is another one that would come under a special code as a high risk merchant.
Finally, our take is that you should tell your merchant account sales associate exactly what services or products you sell so you never have any issues later on with your merchant account or you funds being frozen. If you apply for an "Instant Merchant Account" wait until you get a letter in the mail telling you you're approved before you process any credit cards or you may not receive your funds for six months or longer!
