Be A Success Selling eBooks Online

If you want to make a lot of money with your own eBook and you only read one book on the subject in the next 12 months, I strongly recommend that it's 'eBook Secrets Exposed' by Jim Edwards and David Garfinkel.

The authors are both well qualified in this area. Jim Edwards has written five best-selling eBooks (including 'The Lazy Man's Guide to Online Business' and '33 Days To Online Success').

David Garfinkel is considered by many to be the world's greatest copyrighting coach. He's an award-winning business journalist and is also the author of several best-selling eBooks, such as 'Advertising Headlines That Make You Rich' and 'Killer Copy Tactics'.

There have been so many books on this subject that I really couldn't imagine how this book could add anything new.

But I have never before seen an eBook that explains so clearly how to do it. I got the feeling that you could literally walk in Jim Edwards' footsteps and get the same results he did (over 4,500 eBook sales in 9 months).

What makes this book very readable and enjoyable is that it's simply a long interview - David Garfinkel asks the questions and Jim Edwards gives the answers.

The book is packed with so many 'insider tips' that's it's difficult to know where to begin, but one of the most valuable tips is how to find out - before you write your book - if there's a market for it.

You do this by following Jim Edwards' 5-Step 'Ultimate eBook Success Formula'. The formula allows you to find out if there's a target audience that is already actively looking for the information you're about to sell online. And if so, if they are prepared to pay for it.

One of the interesting things you'll discover in this book is that competition is actually good for your eBook.

If you come up with an idea for an eBook and you find that there are no competing books, you need to get worried - it means there's probably no market for that idea.

But if there are books competing with yours, you're on safe ground - you know you have a market.

And don't be put off by competition: anyone who is serious about a particular subject will buy at least 4 or 5 books on that topic.

Many eBook authors who make big money quickly with their eBooks do resale rights. Instead of making $29 per sale, they're making $99 per sale. As you can see, resale rights can get you into serious money very fast.

But there are definite pitfalls with resale rights (such as finding out a few months later that your cherished information product has become a free eBook). If you want to avoid these pitfalls, you need to read Section 2 carefully.

You might think that best-selling eBook authors don't bother with affiliate programs. Wrong!

Jim Edwards shows you that one of secrets to making money with your eBook is to load it up with back-end affiliate links. But there's a right way to do this and a wrong way (more about this in Section 5).

But the real secret to how Jim Edwards made over $40,000 in one month from a single eBook is joint ventures - finding people with lists of 10,000 or even 100,000 and getting them to do a personal recommendation to their readers.

On the Internet it's not products that make money, it's lists (products don't sell, lists do). Or as Jim Edwards puts it: 'the power is in the pipes, in the distribution'.

Let's say your eBook is priced at $29 and you find someone with a list of 10,000 and they do a mailing that results in 3000 people turning up at your website.

And let's say that those 3000 visits result in 90 to 180 sales - you and your joint venture partner are suddenly making thousands of dollars in a few days.

Jim Edwards shows you exactly, step-by-step, how to set up a joint venture. He even shows you the exact same letter that he used to set up joint ventures for his book 'How To Write and Publish Your Own eBook in a little as 7 Days'.

One of the keys to making joint ventures work is what Jim Edwards calls 'the Santa Claus technique' (more on that in Section 2).

A question many people have is how to price their eBook. And it's crucial that you get this right. In Section 4 Jim Edwards reveals his 'pricing formula' - a very clever way to find your eBook's 'breakpoint' or equilibrium.

There's another very valuable tip in Section 17 - 'My Secret Method For Slashing Refunds' (this tip on it's own could be worth the price of the whole book).

7 Steps To "Resale Rights" Riches

Even if you never write a word of your own, you can still earn plenty of money in the lucrative ebook business.

Many ebook authors include full, royalty-free resale rights with some of their products. This means that, when you buy their ebooks, you can use them for yourself and also sell them to others -- keeping 100% of the profits.

By doing this, the author of the ebook benefits in two ways:

1. He/she increases the value of the ebook to the potential customer and, therefore, makes more sales (at least in the short term). 2. By being sold across a number of websites, the ebook will ultimately reach more people thus increasing the author's profile and credibility and bringing more website traffic from links included in the ebook.

At least half the websites out there that generate huge incomes from ebooks sell no 'original' titles of their own. They sell ebooks written by others -- ebooks with resale rights.

Whether you're already involved in the ebook business or not, reselling other people's ebooks can be an excellent way to generate steady profits. Get in early on a 'hot new title' and you can really rake in a massive amount of money in a very short length of time.

Here's a good approach to getting started:

STEP 1
As soon as you hear about the latest hot new ebook visit the website.

STEP 2
On the website evaluate the ebook with these criteria in mind:
1. Does the price include full resale rights?
2. Does the deal include a full copy of the sales page complete with graphics?
3. Is the sales page good? (Does is really make YOU WANT the product? If it doesn't work for you, it probably won't work for others).
4. Is the order handled by ClickBank? (see STEP 4 below for the reason this can be important)
5. Will your existing visitors or subscribers be interested in this ebook (or do you think you can easily reach the right target market)?

STEP 3
Go to a few major search engines like Google.com or AltaVista.com and run a search for the ebook title. Are there a lot of websites already selling the book? If yes, then it's been around for a while and you may not make the big surge in income you'd expect from a brand new ebook. However, this is also an indication that it's popular, so it may be a good one to consider for more moderate, medium-term profits.

STEP 4
Once you've established that this ebook looks like a winner, it's time to get your own copy for resale.

Many books that come with resale rights also come with the right to redistribute it for free. Be sure to check your search engine results (above) to verify if there are any websites giving it away for free (even if it means subscribing to a newsletter, or whatever). Make sure you get the sales page and all the other stuff you'd get if you were paying for it. If you do find a free version, then jump to STEP 5 below.

If you can't find a free version, verify from the search results where you can buy it cheapest. (NOTE: Be sure to take a look in the auction sites like ebay.com to see if it's on sale there).

If you have a ClickBank nickname, then try to buy from a merchant that also uses ClickBank. To find out, just click on the order button and see if you're directed to a ClickBank order form. Scroll down the ClickBank order page. In the bottom left hand corner you'll see (in tiny letters) a digit followed by a slash follow by a word. That word is the merchant's ClickBank nickname. Now, type the following address into your browser address bar: (http://hop.clickbank.net/YOURnickname/MERCHANTnickname)

By doing this, you'll save between 5% and 50% off the order price. (This will be lodged into your ClickBank account as a commission earned).

STEP 5
Once you've downloaded the ebook plus the sales page, you should evaluate the book to see what you think of it. You don't want to sell garbage to your visitors/customers/subscribers. Likewise, if you're planning to target a brand new market, then you want to get your relationship with your new customers off to a positive start (after all, you want them to buy the next hot product you stumble across ;-)

STEP 6
Personalize the sales page with your own order information. Decide what price you want to sell the ebook for (if the author gives permission to resell at 'any' price). Set up your own order link (using ClickBank, PayPal, or whatever). Then send it online to your web server. Avoid using free hosting services as these tend to diminish your credibility (see here for an article on how I host brand new domains for free: (http://www.bizzydays.com/reprint_rights/free_hosting.htm).

STEP 7
Launch your marketing blitz! The quicker you can get your product out to as many people as possible, the more money you'll make. Target it to your existing customers and/or reach new target markets. There's no shortage of information out there on how to market your product, so I won't get into all that here.

Whatever methods you use, make sure you use your money to target the right audience. There's no point in advertising your insider guide to saving money on life insurance in an ezine that's aimed at 16-year old video-gamers.

And there you have it!

An easy and enjoyable approach to generating short-term surges in income that will turn into steady , longer-term flows of cash. The overall investment is usually small, and the potential returns are very big indeed.

How to Write an E-Book Faster Than It Takes To Read This Article

Though Jim Edwards and I wrote a #1 best-selling e-book titled "How to Write and Publish Your Own OUTRAGEOUSLY Profitable e-Book in as little as 7 days," you can do it even quicker than 7 days.

How?

Here are at least three ways:

1. Don't write it.

That is, speak your book and then transcribe it using a service such as (http://www.idictate.com). Or use one of the voice recognition software out there, such as Dragon Naturally Speaking. Either way, if you're more comfortable speaking rather than writing, speak your book first.

2. Coauthor it.

You can make yourself almost instantly famous by associating yourself with someone who is already famous. Jim Edwards came to me over two years ago and asked to coauthor a book with me. Since then, Jim is now a recognized authority in his own right and has written several other e-books.

3. Make soup.

This is the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" approach to creating a book. You don't write a word. You simply ask people for contributions. Joe Kumar did this with his popular e-book "30 Days to Internet Marketing Success." Joe is a teenager in Singapore, totally unknown until he compiled his ebook and made himself an online celebrity. Jo Han Mok and I just did this with our new book, "The E-Code." We simply wrote people and asked for their contribution. It's amazingly easy to do. You can be unknown, and famous people will give you contributions.

Again, writing e-books doesn't have to be hard or take a lot of time. The trick is in delivering something people want. Do that and no one will care if you wrote your baby in an hour, a day, or a week.

But once it's written, you can make passive money from it for a long, long time.
