Starting an Online Business:
How to Choose What's Best for You?
By Bob Brooker
Are you sitting down? Because I'm about to tell you something that may shock you. There are as many varieties of business opportunities online as there are off.
It's funny how a misconception can float around like a hotair balloon. Until you poke a hole in it. If someone were to tell you that dentistry is the only possible offline profession available, you'd know they were misinformed. And you wouldn't hesitate to fill them in on the opportunities in law and accounting and medicine and the like.
Yet 'online business' has come to mean a single mysterious process involving unknowable codes, such as HTML and java script, and, of course, such esoteric marketing strategies as the infamous PPC.
Well, don't let all those weird letter combinations keep you from the truth: there's an online business that's not only right for you, but one that you can actually master before you're ready to cash in on your 401K. Or Social Security. Depending on what era you were born into.
So whoever you are -- however young or old, grandparent or grandchild, or somewhere in-between -- let's take a look at what's out there for YOU:
· Affiliate marketing. Actually, this is usually what is meant by 'online business.' And it's a great way to get your feet wet in the wide, wide world of eCommerce. You don't even need a website. You just sell other people's stuff on a commission basis.
· eBay. It's like having your own little store in a great big mall. Only without the exorbitant rent. And don't worry: eBay has plenty of tutorials to show you how it's done. Heck, there's even an eBay University!
· eBooks. Be an author. Why not? I'm willing to bet there's something you know that most people don't. The only reason you think everybody knows it already is -- because you do!
· Create and sell your own product - - or sell someone else's. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination. You can sell digital items of your own creation, other people's digital items, stuff in the public domain, "real" stuff (toys, clothing, hand-made crafts . . . the list is endless), junk from your attic, whatever.
· Sell what you love. Build a business around your personal passion. A hobby? Your life's calling? Yes: it really is possible to make money doing the thing that matters most to you.
· Sell yourself. That's right: sell what you already do or know in the offline world. Bookkeeping. Copywriting. Secretarial skills. Web Design. Sewing. Carpentry. Macramé. Reading Tarot cards.
The thing is, my friend, Internet business does not come in one-size-fits-all. There's an online opportunity out there with your name on it. All you need is an open mind. And the will to try. And, yes: I'm talking to YOU.
Choosing an Online Business
By Guna Deivendran
You know that you want to work from home. You've scoured the Internet looking for any and everything relating to your new business venture. Yet, you have only one problem. What business will you choose!
Choosing your online business is a very important decision and one that should not be made lightly. When deciding upon a business idea, there are some tips that will help you make the right and the most profitable decision.
First, if you choose to sell a product or your services, you must make sure that you will indeed be meeting a need that the consumer has. If your service or product will only be sold via the Internet, then you will need to take into consideration that Internet Marketing will play a heavy role in attracting customers. If you are going to have a local storefront, but would like to extend your business into the World Wide Web, then you will also need to make sure that your business idea isn't already saturated in your local community.
Are there already lots of people selling the same product or service? If so, then you will have to prepare for competition and you will be required to take a keen interest in the marketing strategies of your competitors. Are there lots of online businesses selling the same product as you? If so, this may affect your Search Engine ranking and placement and again, you will need to pay close attention to the marketing strategies of your competitors. If there is a strong competitive front, do you believe strongly enough in your business idea that you know that it can stand up against the competition? You can learn a lot from watching your competitors. Successful marketing strategies will be obvious once you watch how your competitors market their products. Will you be able to offer a lower price, or add something to your product or service that will set you apart from the crowd? If so, then you should write up a business plan and begin to make your Online Business dream a reality.
You should also look into hobbies and crafts that you find interesting and see if there is a possibility of turning those into your online business. Many successful businesses began this way. From Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookies, to the success of Kermit the Frog. Yes, Debbie Fields and Jim Henson are perfect examples of turning something that you love to do into a worldwide empire. What are your hobbies, what do you love to do in your spare time? Any crafts or hobbies can ultimately become your work at home dream come true.
Finally, when you have chosen the field that you want to work in, do your research. Find out how other people have made successful careers doing the same work. Learn from the pioneers who paved the road before you. After you have chosen your business, created your business plan and started marketing your business, sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Internet Home Business
By Albert Hallado
The economy is witnessing tremendous challenges today and there is plenty of uncertainty about the future. Over a million retirees return to work every year, after sustaining huge losses in their retirement savings portfolios.
Rather than working at the local convenience store, wouldn't you rather make MORE money and work at HOME? Should you be thinking about starting a business right now? Absolutely! If you're like many people, you've dreamed of starting your own business but can't afford the initial investment.
Well, that's the beauty of Internet Business, you don't need much money to get started.
Internet Business is not just for large corporations, or for small business that already have a storefront in the real world and just simply want to supplement their marketability with a web site.
The internet is the perfect place for individuals who want to start his/her own business and who likes to use computers and who believes that cyberspace is the place to do it.
But the big question is, where do you start? Should I sell a product or service? That's a good question. Luckily, you can easily do either one on the Internet. It makes no difference whether you sell a product or service from your web site.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Selling a service online will give you immediate profitability and you can grow your business more quickly by selling products. The more you sell, the more income you will make.
The key is to find out what's High-In-Demand but Low-In-Supply. You don't have to limit your self to selling other people's products or even services.
In searching for the right business to start make sure you choose something that you love to do. You will be spending a lot of time making the business work, you must enjoy what you do.
You will need to have constructive, positive thoughts and be motivated by more than just pure determination to succeed. If you are a pessimistic person, then you will only have the "what if " doubts.
Negative thoughts will only slow you down, and will not get any creative ideas. Be positive and don't be afraid to try different ideas. There are probably business ideas that will come to you that would do well, but if you don't like that particular type of business, skip that idea and keep thinking.
Find something you love to do and then figure out a way how to get paid for doing it. Many ideas can come from your hobbies, talent, job experience, or interests.
Make a list of what you enjoy doing and see what you're good at.
Do you like sports, computers, perhaps fixing things? What types of business could you start that relate to your interests?
You might be surprised that what you like to do can be turned into a product or service you can sell online. Remember, the key idea here is to do what you enjoy! Find your own niche, the possibilities are limitless.
There is tremendous opportunity on the Internet. You just have to know where to look, and how to avoid the scam artists. We're all here to make money. That includes us, and it includes you! If it didn't, you wouldn't be here, trying to decide on a legitimate way to open an Internet business.
Is there still room for your internet business on the web? Absolutely! Here, you do the Math. According to Forester Research....
There are now around 170 million Internet users world wide, and still growing everyday, with that figure set to increase to one billion by the year 2005. Forester Research, the leading authority on global ECommerce, estimates that US ECommerce revenues alone will exceed $300 billion in that year.
The good news is that there is room for everyone, and that includes you -- as long as it's done right. There are literally countless wide-open niches that are yet to be explored.
There are unlimited topics and new markets that have yet to stake their claim on the Internet. All with virtually no competition from big businesses. These markets mean potential profits for you. They are just waiting for a specialized product or service to provide exactly what they need.
Make sure you choose the right niche
That's because not every niche is profitable. The right niche has to be carefully selected. The beauty of online business is that practically everything can be automated.
This is not to say that there is no work involved in starting a business on the internet. If you plan your online business well you can accomplish in minutes what just Ten years ago would have taken hours, if not days.
I would recommend that you stop searching for "GET RICH QUICK STUFF" and choose something that you enjoy and do a lot of research and reading on it. Just follow one system that you trust and learn and just do it.
5 Mistakes That Make 95% Of Newbies Fail In Their Online Business
by: I.S. Indria
Many people out there are interested to be an Internet Marketer, but most of them failed within first months and get nothings in their pockets. I've been there too, my friend. I have to admit that my first months in online business was very frustating moments of my life. Of course I made a lot of mistakes. But there's always a valuable lesson in every mistake, and the most important thing you must learn from it. From all mistakes I've made, I like to share 5 of them which I think you can learn something from it.
#1. Wrong Mental Attitudes
I made a decision to jump into online business after reading an ads promising that I can make thousands of dollars in only a month. Yeah, you can laugh at me, but believe me I'm not the only one who made that mistake. When someone decides they want to start an online business, they might think all they have to do is slap up a site and wait for the money to come rolling in. I used to think that there's an easy money if you jump into online business. But obviously I was wrong. If only it were that easy....but it isn't. There is a LOT of work and a LOT of learning to do when you are building an online business. In my three years on the internet marketing I have learned many ways to help build a business and I expect I will learn a lot more! If you start an online business, you will be putting in hours each day to make that business successful. You will need to be very dedicated to that business to succeed. Weeks, months, or even years could go by before you start making any money. Make sure you are ready for that kind of commitment before you start your business. Sound intimidating, right? But you don't have to worry! It may be a little hard at the beginning, but when you started it right, it become a lot easier, trust me. So the first lesson here is you need PERSEVERANCE when you start your online business.
#2. Choosing The Wrong Business
I think the easiest start for a newbie when jump into online business, is by joining an affiliate marketing program. Of course nothings wrong with that. As for myself, Affiliate Marketing still become one of my favorite program. Things started to get wrong if you join an affiliate program that doesn't fit for you. Well I have experienced trying to sell a product that I don't like at all. The only reason I'm willing to sell it because I'm interested with their compensation plan. And guess what? I couldn't sell even only one single product. Before you started your online business, I suggest you should asked yourself this question : What are you interested in? Make sure you pick a business that you will be passionate about. Making your business a success will take time, perseverance, passion and a lot of work. It's all about picking the right business, and when you find it, do it with all your hearts. This will help you keep going when things get tough. You cannot build a successful business around something you have no passion or knowledge about. Then the second lesson here is you need a PASSION if you want to succeed in your business.
#3. Not Having A Business Plans And Goals
As a newbie I was very enthusiast when I started my first online business. But then suddenly I realized I don't have a clue what to do next. So I spent much time doing kind of things that wasted my time a lot. If you have made a decision to deal with online business, I suggest you start it with having a business plans and goals. With an online business, there is a lot of work and details to stick to and writing a schedule will help you keep your time organized so all your work gets done. If you do not take the time to plan out your work, you will begin to feel overwhelmed and then you are more apt to become discouraged and feel like giving up. Many peoples treat their online business as a hobby, and if you are one of them I dare to say you won't make it at all. The third lesson here is you need a solid PLAN when you start your online business.
#4. Dealing With Wrong People
Once you started your online business, you need to build relationship with other people. Network with other people online who are starting or building an online business. It may not be face to face, but you will have to deal with people from all over the world, everyday. Treat everyone with respect and answer all questions in a timely and courteous manner. You must also be able to deal with rude people. Treat these people with respect also. Be firm, but courteous. Rarely have I had to deal with this problem, but it does come up. I have some experience when first starting my online business, many people claimed themselves as an expert offering me some help to promote my business. I suggest you do some research before you deal with them, since nothings is free in this world. So the fourth lesson is you have to deal with The Right PEOPLE who can help you to achieve your goals.
#5. Easy To Give Up
Do you have any idea when my first business failed? It happened only three months after I started my very first online business. At that time my partner called me an he was considering quitting our online business. He is going through a stressful time, as we all do, and feels our business is just not worth it anymore. If this sounds familiar to you, then join the crowd! We are all human and there are times when the everyday stress of life just takes it's toll. What you need to do when this happens is not to quit your business, but to step back, give yourself some breathing room and take care of what is causing the excess stress. There are times when I have felt the same way, but I know that I would never want to quit my business. Besides getting to work with so many wonderful people, this business is now a part of me and my life. I am sure that a lot of you feel the same way. The most important lesson here is, you need a POSITIVE energy when you failed with your business. Turn all your negative energy into positive, and you will find yourself a stronger person.
If you can learn something from 5 mistakes I made when first starting my online business, then you will start growing up your business, TRUST ME! Don't be afraid to make mistakes, always learn from your mistakes! Online business is very promising when you have all The 5 P's I mentioned earlier (PERSEVERANCE, PASSION, PLAN, PEOPLE, POSITIVE).
